We are a licensed insurance agency representing a number of reputable insurance companies. We offer a variety of fine products to meet the insurance needs of both individuals and businesses.

The founder of the Agency, Peter Loi Chang, started working as an agent in 1982 in San Francisco at a property and casualty insurance agency owned by Transamerica Insurance Corporation at that time. In 1985 he started his own agency in Oakland under the name of Pleasant Insurance Agency.

Since then we have been providing our pleasant service to consumers throughout the greater Bay Area and beyond. We grow as our clients grow. In some cases we are proud to be the insurance agents for all three generations of the same family. There are also times when we have the privilege of serving as agents for businesses even after a change of ownership.

Since 1982, we have helped many families obtain insurance to protect their homes, autos, income property, health, and lives. We have also helped many businesses obtain insurance to protect their business property, employees, and various liability exposures. In the wake of the Oakland Hills Fire Storm in 1991, we provided immediate support and assistance throughout the claims process for our clients who had suffered total losses to their properties. We stand behind our business owner clients when they unexpectedly receive a court summons filed by a third party against them for a matter covered by the insurance companies. We share their anguish and frustration and do our best to facilitate the claim process during the tedious legal procedure.

We are not aggressive agents. We understand that insurance is an often overlooked or misunderstood necessity in life and make it a priority to educate and inform our clients on the importance of being properly insured.

Putting our clients first, we provide them with products that are right for them rather than what’s profitable for us.

We do not believe that price and price alone should be the deciding factor in choosing an insurance company.

The products, coverage, limits, and the reputation and integrity of the insuring company are all equally important and must meet the needs of the insured.
